This institute was set up as an annexed organization in March of 2002 with national college of rehabilitation and welfare opening formally. This organization has been making every effort to minimize the inconveniences that students with handicap are experiencing at university and furnish the highest quality education. In addition, it is trying to break a turning point in the Korean university educational system toward the students with handicap that goes around a beginning level and to establish a foundation on supporting structures.

This institute is convinced that the most important thing relating to the backing-up structures lies in change in conception of the school executives as well as positive budget investment. That is, the executives should first understand students¡¯ demands and then consider them in planning the support when making several decisions on it.

Based on such conviction, our members of this institute will develop and supplement a diversity of boosting programs, facilities, and systems in order for the students with handicap to enjoy a sound and active life of school. Furthermore, we will aggressively communicate with domestic and foreign related organizations and pay much attention to making a study of rehabilitation and welfare for the persons with handicap.

We are aware that there might be certain mistake for a short record of operation. On the other hand, we would like to promise that all the members of this institute will do the best to be in support of the students with handicap.

We are always looking forward to your sincere advice and continued cooperation.

August of 2004

Jong-Rye, Won Ph.D.
